Stories From The Kurma Purana

The Kurma Purana is one of the eighteen principal Puranas,
as stated in the Shrimad-Bhagavatam (SB 12.7.23-24). Śrīla
Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura remarks that only two
khaṇḍas of the Kūrma Purāṇa are now available, namely the
Pūrva-khaṇḍa and Uttara-khaṇḍa. Sometimes it is said that
the Kūrma Purāṇa contains six thousand verses, but according
to Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam the original Kūrma Purāṇa contains
seventeen thousand verses. It is considered the fifteenth of
the the eighteen Mahā-purāṇas.
